I’ve discovered a secret – prepare yourselves.
If you listen to Maroon 5 singing “Moves Like Jagger” while putting ingredients together in a crock-pot, you will start to believe that what you’re doing is not commonplace, not mundane – no, what you’re doing will suddenly feel alluring…sexy even.
Trust me, eat wild, and do it the next time you put a hundred little boring things into a crock-pot. Like I did with all of this –

(Exact amounts at the bottom of the post)
We had the good fortune of having my husband’s parents visit this weekend, and I made this special dish to celebrate their arrival in Indianapolis. (Side note– I can’t wait to share all of our local adventures with you!) Slow-roasted, free range pork shoulder in a homemade barbecue sauce. Absolutely delicious.
Now, when you mix it all together, it looks like this –

Not very pretty, but just remember, “You want the moves like jagger, I've got the moves like jagger, I've got the mooooooves... like jagger.” I’m not kidding – I think it actually makes the food taste better to cook to this song.
Okay, add in the free-range pork shoulder and coat it in the mixture. Turn the crock-pot on low for 7-8 hours. In the end, it will be fall-apart tender. See the before and after -

I like serving it over a piece of thickly sliced French or sourdough bread lightly toasted in the oven. The salad on the side was made with locally grown romaine lettuce – the first of the season!

Oh, and don’t be like me and add in regular chili powder if what you meant to add was chipotle chili powder – reading the spice jar helps a lot. But what can I say – I was too busy being distracted by my moves.
